Metrotest AS/NZS 3760:2022 Tester Support Session
Metrotest is launching something a little different, the Metrotest AS/NZS 3760:2022 Tester Support Session, a one-on-one online coaching session. Why now? Well, Metrotest has started to notice a concerning trend with a bit of a gap in training.
Most people who come through a test and tag course walk away with a certificate, a head full of the standard and, if they’re lucky, a PAT tester in the car. What doesn’t always happen is someone sitting beside them showing how that particular tester actually works – something that can’t be done with several trainees on a course who are all looking for help using their PAT, often picked up for the first time on the course, or what to do with the odd specific appliance that turns up on day one of testing.
Think of it like passing your driver’s license in one car then being handed the keys to a different one, you know the rules, you just can’t find the indicators!
That’s the gap this session is aimed at. You book a one-on-one with a Metrotest trainer, tell them which tester you have and which appliances are giving you grief, and they prepare around that. Sessions are normally one to two hours over Zoom.
How it works
You send an enquiry with your tester and the appliances you’re struggling with, Metrotest sends back follow-up information so you’re properly prepared, and they’ll also verify you have successfully completed a test and tag training course. Then it’s on to Zoom to work through the real stuff, no generic slides – full one-on-one time with a trainer with real world testing experience for those really specific difficult appliances you come across.
Who is it for?
Anyone who has already done a test and tag course and needs a bit more. That might be someone trained by another provider who was never shown how to use their tester, someone who has just bought a new PAT and needs to learn it, or someone who wants more confidence with the items they have to test in their own workplace.
Who it isn’t for
If you haven’t completed a test and tag course this isn’t the place to start. It’s also not for anyone who recently finished a course with Metrotest, as support is already included in your training, so contact Metrotest directly for extended support which is often included in your training.

Summing up
If you are have completed a training course with another provider and feel you need to build that extra confidence and understanding of your PAT tester, then this is a great option to bridge the gap in training that can’t always be packed into a 1 day course.
